2017 - UK, Gibraltar

2017 - UK, Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a territory which is located on the southern end of the Iberian peninsula, to the East of the Bay of Algeciras, and this is extended over the geological formation of the rock of Gibraltar (the Rock of Gibraltar). Gibraltar lies off Africa, and in its point narrower are separated by 14.4 kilometers of ocean at the Strait of Gibraltar.
We went to Gibraltar from Fuengirola (Spain) invited by a Boy Scout friend of José that he met in Scotland in 2016. This visit was very interesting by crossing the border between Spain and Gibraltar because the Gibraltar International Airport, which sits at the tip of the territory's northern border with Spain, has a busy highway bisecting its runway. On the other side of the border, the friend of Jose was waiting for us and took us in his truck to visit the rock and its surroundings. Very interesting to know the history and geography of Gibraltar and all its features. According to Lorena Arroyo and Paul Esparza BBC world... "Gibraltar is the meeting point between two continents - Africa and Europe - and between two seas - the Mediterranean Sea and the ocean Atlantic, subject of dispute between the two countries - Spain and the United Kingdom-, but also home to 30,000 inhabitants, who speak a dialect" unique, unique monkeys released in Europe, one of the most peculiar airports of the world and above all is a meeting place of cultures".

2017 - Spain, Nerja

Nerja is a municipality in the province of Málaga with white houses. Since the 1960s, it is a preferred tourist destination in the Costa del Sol. The third part of the population are foreign residents, mainly British.
In the cave of Nerja, discovered in 1959 found paintings of seals that may be the first work of art known in the history of humanity, with 42 000 years old. We could not visit the cave of Nerja, maybe at a later time.
However we walked through the village and reached "The balcony of Europe". This is a cute and broad viewpoint from which look out onto the balcony of Europe was a real pleasure, with beautiful views of the coast and the Mediterranean Sea.
Finally we ate ourselves in the Burriana beach a delicious paella made outdoors in "El Chiringuito de Ayo".

2017 - Spain, Benalmadena (Fiesta de Cristo Rey)

Benalmádena, Andalucía (Costa del Sol)

Benalmádena (Spanish pronunciation: [benalˈmaðena]) is a town in Andalusia in southern Spain, 12 km west of Málaga, on the Costa del Sol between Torremolinos and Fuengirola.[1][2][3]
Benalmádena is rich in attractive beaches and interesting places like the Colomares Castle, the 33-meter-tall Buddhist Benalmádena Stupa, the largest Buddhist stupa in Europe, the Benalmádena Marina and the Benalmádena Cable Car.
Benalmádena covers an area of just over than 27 km2 that extends from the summits of the Sierra de Mijas to the sea, falling in some places as a cliff. The territory is crossed from east to west on Highway A-7, which connects with the provincial capital and other centers of the Mediterranean coast.[citation needed]
With 61,383 inhabitants according to the INE census of 2010, Benalmádena is the eighth most populous municipality in the province and the third largest metropolitan area, behind Málaga and Torremolinos. The population is concentrated in three main centers: Benalmádena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Costa, although the high urban growth and demographic tends to unify the three cores.[4]
Benalmádena has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Benalmádena experienced a remarkable development during the period of Muslim domination. Its development was paralyzed after joining the Crown of Castile in 1485 due to various natural disasters and the intensity of the activity of privateers in the area. The paper industry and vineyard cultivation reactivated the local economy during the 18th and 19th centuries.
In the early twenty first century Benalmádena is one of the main tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol, with leisure facilities including an amusement park, two aquariums, a casino, a cable car and one of the largest marinas of Andalusia.
